Michael Teft

BDS MSc Perio

Michael qualified from The University of Liverpool in 2010. Since then he has worked in the East Midlands and Shropshire before taking over as Principal Dentist at Oakham Dental Studio, in October 2024. Michael’s career in dentistry started in 2001 as a dental nurse where he found his passion for dentistry and caring for his patients. He now works predominantly as a general dentist, but having completed a three-year Master’s degree in periodontics in 2019, he also takes referrals from other dentists for patients with gum and implant disease. In 2023 he completed a year-long implant course which he continues to build on and apply to his experience with periodontal and restorative treatment. Over the last 6 years Michael has used digital scanning and CADCAM technology to provide advanced restorative solutions to his patients. Michael grew up in Long Bennington and went to school in Grantham. He is married to Alice and they live in Oakham. Michael is a half decent cook and tries to keep fit. He wishes he had more time for fly fishing!

Emily Hooper

BDS, MFDS RCSEng, MSc (Ortho), MOrth RCSEng, FDS (Orth) RCSEng

After qualifying from the University of Bristol, Emily was keen to further her skills and completed a number of specialist hospital training posts. She was then successful in securing a place on the highly competitive 3 year Orthodontic specialist training pathway working between St George’s Hospital and King’s College Hospital, London. She completed a Master’s degree in Orthodontics (MSc) and Membership in Orthodontics (MOrth) enabling her to be entered onto the specialist list. She went onto complete her higher consultant training, working between three central London hospitals, where she was involved in the multidisciplinary care of the most complex orthodontic patients.

She has been involved in the teaching and supervision of undergraduate dental students, orthodontic therapists and registrars. She has published research in both national and international peer reviewed journals and has presented numerous poster presentations at national society meetings. She is a member of the British Orthodontic Society and a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, England, and more recently has been invited to sit on a local dental committee (LDC). She currently divides her time working as a consultant in a local hospital and Oakham Dental Studio.

Emily’s friendly personality shines through during her day-to-day work and she loves to get to know both her patients (and their parents) during their orthodontic journey. She treats both children and adults, all of which make her daily work varied and interesting. Undoubtedly creating beautiful smiles and having happy patients is a fulfilling part to her job.

Outside of work, she loves to play and watch tennis. She has watched her favourite players at Wimbledon, Rolland Garros and the Australian Open.
